On June 6^th and 7^th Felpham Sailing Club opened the doors for its first RS Feva ‘Race and Train’ weekend to be greeted by approximately thirty sailors from clubs near and far. On Saturday, the fleet took part in a race coaching day led by Andy Kerr, who stayed on for Sunday’s racing programme to provide continued feedback and support. Sunshine and a consistent F3 south-westerly were the order of the day on Sunday, and the fleet raced around a long windward-leeward course for four races; two each either side of lunch. With the sparkling conditions the efforts of the sailors provided the Felpham beach-goers with a wonderful spectacle, especially as kites blossomed as boats rounded the windward mark.

There was a real range of sailors this weekend, but the transformation in some of the newer racers was startling. The starts for races three and four were bar taut and provided some truly close finishes. At the head of the fleet, there was constant chopping and changing and some fabulous racing.

Felpham SC looks forward to its second RS Feva Open in 2016, and wishes to extend its thanks to all the sailors who attended and the wonderful volunteers from the club who put on such a cracking event. There has been some really positive feedback so far and we hope to see all those who attended back next year, and would love to welcome anyone else keen to join in the fun.
