New RS Feva Class Chairman
Dear All
I hope you have had a great season, it certainly has been a busy one. Well done to all sailors who have competed in the events this year, especially the Nationals and Europeans and our various Grand Prix. Also huge congratulations to those sailors who have qualified for one of the RS Feva Winter Squads and good luck to all our sailors transitioning into their next boat, we will miss you all.
We have just finished the Endeavour Cup “Champion of Champions” weekend where William Pank and Seb Gotto, our 2018 National Champions, represented the Feva class brilliantly finishing 13th overall in very challenging conditions including scoring a 4th and an 8th on the Sunday.
I am very pleased to announce that Steve Fisher, or “Fish” to everyone, has agreed to take over from me as Chairman of the class. I think it is very important that the class committee chair is held by a parent of a current class sailor and I am pleased to say that Fish not only has Freddie sailing now, but also a couple of children still too young to sail the Feva and so he has a “few years in him”!! Fish and I will plan an orderly handover over the next few months.
I believe the class is in great shape both organisationally and financially and, most importantly, our membership is strong and the number of boats we have attend our major events remains high. Both our very hard working secretary Lucy Jameson and Treasurer Nick Edmunds are continuing on and I would like to thank them both for their hard work and support during my time as chair. I would also like to thank the regional reps and everyone else who have helped. My final thanks goes to Ian Jameson, the class vice chair, who ensures that ribs get from A to B and that the racing goes smoothly.
The class committee is always keen to have new blood and so if anyone would like to join the committee and support the class, I am sure Fish would be very interested in hearing from you.
I wish the class all the very best for the future, my three children have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and made lots of very good friends in the process.
See you all on the water at some point I am sure
Nick
