The SW Feva team enjoyed another weekend of windy weather at Chew Valley this weekend. Helen Martin, Vice Commodore welcomed the sailors with the message ‘have fun and enjoy yourselves’, shortly before head coach Alex Mothersele announced that the first exercise would be heavy wind gybing practise! Demonstrating how far they have come since the beginning of the training series, all 14 boats managed to complete the session, whilst the parents on the shore enjoyed watching the ‘synchronised gybing on the whistle’, not to mention a little synchronised swimming!
With the wind forecast to be heavier on Sunday, the coaches maximised time on the water with another long session on Saturday afternoon – the exhausted sailors slept soundly that night!
Sunday brought the promised wind, resulting in an impressive display of superb boat handling skills from the squad boats and an opportunity to catch up on theory for the rest of the group.
Many thanks to Chew organiser Nick Edmonds, coaches Alex Mothersele, Michael Dennis and Mark Rolfe and the RIB volunteers.
The final weekend of the series – Royal Torbay on 14th and 15th March.
