The sun was shining all weekend for the Spring Championships at Royal Lymington Yacht Club. The turn out was amazing with many enthusiastic sailors rearing to get out on the water.
The first race of the weekend saw two starts with home sailors Mark Jenkins Jauma and Alex Sydenham taking first place and Tristan Ahlheid and Finlay Lomas-Clarke coming in second place, and Finley Southon and Charlotte White in 3rd place. A few general recalls took place with the start of race 2, once the fleet got going the wind eased to 8 knots. Another win for Mark and Alex and Jac Bailey and Ben Sinfield taking second place with Tristan and Finlay taking 3rd place.
Race 3 had a clear start with similar conditions to the second race, making it three out of three Mark and Alex ended the day in the lead, 2nd place for race 3 was Jac and Ben and 3rd place was taken by Dirk and Jonny Rogers from Royal Lymington.
Sunday morning saw the start of race four with similar weather conditions to the day before, by the end of the first lap there was a separation in the fleet. Mark and Alex came away with 1st place once again, 2nd was taken by Hennie Burlton and Emily Brushett from Royal Southern YC and 3rd was Tristan and Finlay.
Race 5 saw Joseph Jones and Charlie Howard form Burghfield SC taking a win, with Tristan and Finlay taking 2nd and 3rd place was Nia Mecklenburgh and Harry Baddeley from Royal Lymington YC. The final race of the event was race 6, won by Tristan and Finlay with 2nd place taken by Holly Mitchell and Ella Jones, Mark and Alex took 3rd place.
Everyone was pleased to see so many sailors racing over the event and this made all the difference for experience gained by racing in larger fleets.
The Overall positions for the GP4 had 7th place going to Finley Southon and Charlotte White from Bough Beech SC and Wilsonian SC, 6th place went to Hennie Burlton and Emily Brushett from Royal Southern Yacht Club. Joseph Jones and Charlie Howard from Burghfield SC took 5th place, 4th place went Ben Greenhalgh and Tom Sinfield from Port Dinorwic SC.
Third place going to Jac Bailey and Ben Sinfield also from Port Dinorwic SC, with 2nd take going to Tristan Ahliheid and Finlay Lomas-Clarke from Frensham Pond SC.The crowned winners for the Spring Championships went to Mark Jenkins Jauma and Alex Sydenham from home club Royal Lymington Yacht Club.
